Dr Melanie achieved a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Aberdeen in 2014, and was selected for Longitudinal Foundation Training in NHS Lothian, completing rotations in Oral Surgery, Restorative and Paediatric Dentistry and general practice until 2016. During this period she attained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
She continued with Core Training as a Senior House Officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery for two years at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, gaining experience of the oncology, facial trauma, orthognathic and dentoalveolar services.
Dr Melanie commenced Specialty Training in Oral Surgery in 2018, working within Edinburgh Dental Institute, the Borders General Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and St John’s Hospital and treating a wide demographic of patients under local anaesthetic, intravenous sedation and general anaesthetic.
Dr Melanie completed Specialty Training in 2023 having attained a concurrent Masters in Clinical Dentistry in Oral Surgery with merit, passing the Tricollegiate Membership in Oral Surgery examinations and having two daughters. She is registered on the UK Specialist Register and currently combines her Oral Surgery commitments at The Row with Consultant (in Oral Surgery) duties at Edinburgh Dental Institute.
In her spare time, Dr Melanie enjoys spending time with her two young daughters and competing in Triathlon.
