Adult oral health assessments

Visual Examination
We’ll inspect your mouth, lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, throat, and palate for abnormalities, such as signs of inflammation, discolouration, lesions, or unusual growths.

Dental X-Rays
X-rays may be taken to examine areas not visible to the naked eye, such as between teeth, beneath the gumline, and the jawbone. This helps identify cavities, impacted teeth, bone loss, and other issues.

Digital Scans
To monitor for tooth wear, gum recession and tooth movement.

Periodontal Assessment
The dentist will check the health of your gums by measuring pocket depths (the space between teeth and gums) and looking for signs of gum disease (gingivitis or periodontitis).

Teeth Exam
We’ll check each tooth for signs of decay, cracks, wear, and other problems. We’ll also look for issues with existing dental work, like fillings, crowns, and bridges.

Oral Hygiene Guidance
We’ll provide oral hygiene advice and guidance on brushing techniques, flossing, and diet— all the stuff that’s essential to maintaining good oral health.

Oral Cancer Screening
We’ll assess for abnormalities and early signs of oral cancer with a thorough check of the tongue, throat, gums, and other soft tissues for abnormalities.

TMJ and Bite Assessment
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and bite alignment are evaluated for jaw function issues like clicking, pain, or difficulties with opening and closing the mouth.

Discussion and Recommendations
Following the examination, we’ll discuss our findings, provide oral health guidance, and recommend any necessary treatments or preventive measures.

Kids oral health assessments

Visual Examination
A visual inspection of your child’s mouth, gums, tongue, palate, cheeks, and throat will identify visible issues like cavities, plaque buildup, discolouration, lesions, or anomalies in tooth development.

Dental X-Rays
We may take X-rays to assess the development of primary (baby) teeth and permanent teeth. X-rays also detect cavities between teeth, evaluate jaw development, and identify any potential issues not visible in the visual examination.

Assessment of Tooth Development
We’ll assess your child’s dental development, including eruption patterns of primary and permanent teeth, alignment, and potential issues like overcrowding, malocclusion, and delayed eruption.

Evaluation of Gum Health
Checking for signs of gum disease, inflammation and bleeding, and assessing your child’s gum health is crucial. Early detection of gum problems can prevent more serious issues in the future.

Oral Hygiene Education
Educating you and your child about proper oral hygiene practices tailored to their age is essential. This includes guidance on brushing techniques, flossing, and diet to maintain good oral health.

Fluoride Application
A fluoride varnish is painted onto the surface of the teeth to strengthen the tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay (2 times per year).

Fissure Sealant Application
We’ll apply a protective layer of fissure sealant to the grooves in your child’s teeth to prevent the development of food decay (only applied to permanent molars, which occur at around the ages 6-12).

Preventive Care Recommendations
We’ll provide recommendations for preventive measures, such as dental sealants, fluoride treatments, and orthodontic evaluations.
